Australia

Australia, also known as "land down under", is not only the worlds largest island and the smallest and emptiest continent. It's also the driest and flattest of all continents. The area of about 7.7 million sq. km is gigantic against the population of 16 million people. For example Uganda, a state in Africa has the same population with an area of 240,000 sqkm. This is the 32nd piece of Australia. With the distance from east to west of circa 4,000 km and from north to south of circa 3,200 km Australia has got a coastline of more than 30,000 km. In the north of the land you can find the Outback. This area consist of a big desert which is the emptiest zone in Australia. Especially in this region the aeroplane and the helicopter play a big role. Australia was cut off from Asia about fifty million years ago. That's why you can find there a completely different way of plant and animal live. The most famous examples are the koala bear, the kangaroo, and the bottle trees.
