Facts

China is the world's third largest country and the one with the maximum number of people. The total area amounts to 9,57,300 square kilometre. China has 1,177 Billion inhabitants or approximately one-fifth of the world's population. At the coast two hundret inhabitants per square kilometre are living and in the west of China the density of population is (Mountains) under one inhabitant per square kilometre. The capital city is Peking, but the largest city is Shanghai with 13 Mio. inhabitants. Eighty percent of the population are farmers. Because so many people are living at the coast, China belongs to the best fishing-nations in the world.
The most important export-products are oil, metal, textiles, corn and vegetables. The most important import-products consists of industrial machines, iron and steel, chemicals, food and vehicles China has the largest coal-deposit in the world.
