This book is an autobiography. It describes the life of Ron Kovic from his childhood to the age of about thirty. The structure of this book is a bit complicated because sometimes it is written in the first person and sometimes in the third person. Besides, the contents is not told continuously. Therefore I have simplified it and put it in the right order.
Ron Kovic was born on the fourth of July in 1946. After school he joins the US Marine Corps and after his training he is sent to Vietnam where a hard time for Kovic starts:
One day he accidentally kills a friendly corporal. Some months later in a rainy and foggy night he and his battalion accidentally kill children and old people.
