He was a man with deep religious and political sentiments who rose from destitution to become one of the most influential music figures in the last twenty years.
Marley is a blur of motion, bobbing, weaving, dreadlocks flying, never seeming to quite touch the stage.
Apostle, shaman, prophet, priest, poet: call him what you will, Bob Marley lives in all of us.
As a social activist, his lyrics leave an indelible mark on our past, present, and future struggles to embrace a harmonious existist within the brotherhood and sisterhood of man on this earth.
During his brief life, Marley had emerged from the slums of Kingston's Trenchtown district to achieve worldwide fame.
I can say nothing other than that it's a terrible, awful loss. Bob's career was always much larger than music and there was much more to come.
