"A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens

The Christmas Carol is written by Charles Dickens. He was a very famous author and lived from 1821 to 1870. He described ordinary life in the Victorian age and created a lot of funny people in his books. Ebeneezer Scrooge is the main character of this book. He was a businessman and he thought christmas is stupid and useless at all. He was only interested in his work and he didn't have any friends.
It was Christmas Eve and Scrooge was working in his office. On the door of his office was painted "Scrooge & Marley's". Marley had been his college, but he died seven years ago. Only his name was still painted on the door. Suddenly Scrooge's nephew came in and cried with a cheerful voice, "Merry Christmas, uncle, and god bless you!" But in Scrooge's opinion it was all nonsense. His nephew tried to change his mind, but that didn't work. After his nephew had left, two men came in.
